Second Tier

First of all, why do I have the urge to start all my blog entries with a question? I mean honestly, who am I asking? Myself? Alright, I'll just have a full conversation with myself. Hey Jenna! What's going on? Yea, I'm done. The question I'm asking myself to start off this heavily opinionated essay like thing is, why has music come second to looks when it comes to the music we enjoy listening to?

If you go to secondary school, you have some idea what I'm talking about. I see kids all the time who have what is classified as "the emo look." Side-swept black bangs that sit in front of the eye, tight pants, crazy makeup in the girls' case, and of course, the Chuck Taylors.

What I've noticed that angers me the most is that the kids who dress like that are automatically considered emo, and that emo has now replaced the word sad all together. I admit to saying emo instead of sad as well, but it pisses me off that sense of style seems to be more important than the style of music.

I personally cannot say that I listen to "emo" music, mainly because I would rather listen to a Skid Row album, but I know that a lot of people enjoy it, and that kids should just shut up about the way they look. If they like the music, it shouldn't matter what they look like. However, if they're doing it just because it's somewhat trendy, they need to go die.
